Olympic caterers confirmed, Compass and Aramark join the list

Compass Group and Aramark are among the caterers confirmed to be operating at the London 2012 Olympics.

BaxterStorey, Sodexo and The NEC Group, named as likely Olympic contractors by Caterer in January, have now signed contracts with Locog and will operate the Main Media Centre, Olympic Park South and Olympic Park North respectively.

In addition, Sodexo will provide catering services at Glasgow football stadium Hampden Park, St James Park Royal Artillery Barracks, which will host shooting and paralympic archery, and archery venue Lords.

Aramark has been contracted to operate at the Olympic Villages as well as Weymouth and Portland, the venue for the 2012 sailing competitions.

Compass Group will be on hand to deliver catering at the Millennium Stadium, the O2 Arena, Wembley Arena, Wimbledon and City of Coventry Stadium where it currently holds contracts. It will also operate at ExCel and Earl's Court, where retail catering will be provided by Creativevents.

Mountain bike venue Hadleigh Farm, Lee Valley White Water centre, beach volleyball site Horse Guards Parade and triathlon and marathon swimming venue Hyde Park will all be catered for by Buckinghamshire-based Global Infusion.

Manchester United will operate at Old Trafford while privately owned construction caterer Bon Appetit will manage catering at non-competition venues.

Racecourse operator and caterer Arena Leisure will deliver services at equestrian and pentathlon events at Greenwich Park and canoeing and rowing at Eton Dorney in deal worth £500,000 to £1m in profits.

The Olympic Hospitality Centre contract, which is expected to be managed by Austrian caterer Do & Co, is expected to be signed within the next four weeks.

LOCOG chief executive Paul Deighton said: "People will view their experience of London 2012 in many different ways - including how good the food was. We have already set out our vision for food provision and the appointment of these companies is the next step in delivering on this.

"Our Tier one catering partners will work with a number of smaller caterers to help deliver key parts of their catering offer, and work with a multitude of large, medium and small food produces to showcase the best of British food."

McDonald's is the official restaurant of London 2012 and will be operating restaurants within the Athletes Village, Main Media Centre and the Olympic Park.
