Operon clinches four-year deal at film studios

Facilities management company Operon has launched its catering operation as a stand-alone division as it celebrates the signing of its 22nd contract.

Operon Catering has won a £1.4m total turnover four-year deal to provide bar, restaurant and hospitality catering services for up to 200 people at 3 Mills Studios in east London. Set on a 20-acre site with 16 stages, the studio is London's biggest and was used to film movies such as 28 Weeks Later and Sunshine.

Joe Mead, who was previously a director at Charlton House, is managing director of Operon Catering.

He is aiming to grow the catering division, which currently has more than 100 employees and annual turnover in the region of £6m, to 50 contracts and £18m turnover by 2010.
