Organisers will book smaller and more frequent events in 2012, according to Venue Reservations

Two-thirds of event organisers will be booking smaller and more frequent events in 2012, according to a survey by Venue Reservations, part of Crown Group.

The research also found that more events are expected to be held outside of London this year, suggesting that improved facilities, budget constraints and venue availability during the Olympics may play a part in determining event locations.

The study was carried out at the 10th birthday showcase at Church House Conference Centre held earlier this week to mark 10 years of Venue Reservations providing services to industry.

Guests that attended the event, including corporate buyers, venue clients and agents, were quizzed on a series of questions to determine sector trends for the coming year.

They were also given the opportunity to better understand the nationwide portfolio of Venue Reservations, while being catered for by sister company Kudos, which provides the food and venue management services at Church House.

Jackie Harding, group director, Crown Group, said: "We work in a highly competitive industry and we are proud to say that we have a very unique business model that really gets the best for our venue clients and events experts.

"We have seen many changes in the industry over the years and while we've had to adapt to fast-changing times, our principles and values have always remained the same.

"This research gives us further insight into what event professionals are anticipating over the coming year, and arms us with the knowledge and foresight to be able to support the industry with their changing requirements."
