Pabulum wins catering contract at Watford Grammar School for Boys
Fleet-based independent caterer Pabulum has won a £1m contract to provide catering services at Watford Grammar School for Boys in Hertfordshire.
Pabulum, which specialises in ethical and sustainable catering, was awarded the five-year deal following a review of the catering at the school.
Assistant head teacher Brian Rafferty said the school is keen to reinforce the positive impact of a well-balanced, healthy diet on the learning ability and general wellbeing of its 1,300 students.
He said: "Pabulum's reputation for delivering nutritious and healthy school meals that are both delicious and good value played a large part in the decision-making process, as did their professionalism and collaborative approach."
Amanda Ciraulo, Pabulum's director of sales, said that a personalised, hands-on approach by the relatively small team was a key part of the caterer's appeal, as well as increased demand for fresh, homemade and locally sourced produce.
She added: "We're very excited to be working with Watford Grammar School for Boys and are looking forward to further promoting and reinforcing the benefits of not only healthy eating but also sustainable, environmentally friendly catering practices to all the pupils."
Pabulum was recently awarded the Good Egg Award from the international farm animal welfare charity, Compassion in World Farming and in May it received the Food for Life catering mark for 47 schools on the Isle of Wight.
