Salt-reduced Knorr soups for schools

School caterers can now serve the 17-strong range of Knorr dehydrated standard soups safe in the knowledge that the reformulated line meets both the Food Standards Agency's 2010 salt-reduction targets and its target nutrient specifications for schools. Salt levels have been cut by a further 12% following a 15% reduction in 2003. The soups are low in fat and sugar, have no added MSG or artificial colours or preservatives, and are fortified with 26% of the recommended daily allowance of six vitamins (E, C, B6, B12, thiamine and folic acid). They can be prepared in five minutes and are bain-marie-stable for two hours. Eleven varieties cater for vegetarians, eight are dairy-free and two are gluten-free. The packs come with recipe ideas to help chefs achieve one portion of the recommended five-a-day servings of fruit and vegetables. They are supplied in six 25-portion 340g cartons for £13.37, 2kg buckets (£13.47) or three 100-portion packs (£6.85).
