Saturday Kitchen's James Martin honoured with special award at Craft Guild of Chefs Awards
James Martin, chef and presenter of Saturday Kitchen, has been recognised with the Special Award at the 2013 Craft Guild of Chefs Awards.
The celebrity chef was among the winners at the awards, which were announced at a ceremony at London's Grosvenor House Hotel, with Royal Patron HRH Countess of Wessex presenting the awards.
Other winners included an outstanding chef at West Bromwich Albion FC and a star in the making at The Ivy Restaurant. Meanwhile, the Restaurant Chef Award went to Pascal Aussignac of Gascon Connection and Peruvian restaurant Lima was named New Restaurant of the Year.
Craft Guild of Chefs vice-president and awards organiser Steve Munkley said: "I can't stress enough the sheer quality of this year's entrants, and it is wonderful to see such greatness in the industry as the awards celebrate their 20th anniversary."
Martin was recognised for the impression he has made on the industry and with consumers during his 20 year career as a chef, businessman, author of nine books, and TV presenter on Saturday Kitchen.

Cost Sector Chef Award - Rob Bean, University of Leicester
Development Chef Award - Andy Twells, Eurest Instore
New Restaurant of the Year Award - Lima
Pastry Chef Award - Andrew Ditchfield, House of Commons
People's Choice Award - Simon Boyle, Brigade/Beyond Food Foundation
Pub Restaurant Chef Award - Stosie Madi, Parkers Arms
Restaurant Chef Award - Pascal Aussignac, Gascon Connection
Special Award - James Martin, The Talbot Hotel
