Food and Drink

With an increasing demand for menus to offer healthy meal options to customers, there's a new initiative for the catering and food service sector in Scotland. The Healthy Living Award(stand 4743) will cover all types of food-serving outlets in Scotland and aims to give national recognition to those who make it easier for their customers to eat more healthily.

Lee Kum Kee (4355) will offer an authentic taste of Asia as the company showcases its Professional range of sauces for chefs and holds cookery demonstrations throughout each day.

A new snack idea, Chip n' Dip, will be launched by Real Crisps (4549). Consisting of 45g of Real Crisps and a dip, it's available in two varieties - Lightly Salted with Salsa Dip and Lightly Salted with Honey Mustard Dip.

Campbells Prime Meat (4650) will provide visitors with the chance to sample its increasing range of Home Grown and Continental goods, as well as giving demonstrations and launching new products.

The Italian Aroma Coffee Company (4449) will illustrate why it claims to have everything you need to run a successful coffee shop or restaurant as well as launching a new brand for the Scottish market, Café Danesi.

Staying with the coffee theme, the Myrtle Espresso Team (4220) will jointly host this year's Barista Championships and the company's La Spaziale range will be on display for competitors use in their pursuit of the perfect espresso.

Coffee roaster Bei & Nannini (4129), which buys direct from its chosen plantations to ensure consistent high quality beans, will announce new expansion plans in the UK.

Catering Equipment

This category will see several launches, including the relaunch of Trimco refrigeration from Phoenix Retail Services (4516). On display will be Trimco's Brabant delicatessen counter, the Zurich and Ardennes pâtisserie counters and the new contemporary Isabel counter, which is suitable for a wide range of retail and fast-food environments.

Rational (4445) will launch new software upgrades for its SelfCooking Center, including new cooking modes for egg dishes and desserts, potato products, and a finishing program, and enhanced overnight cooking and level control functions. An additional feature is the pizza control setting for use in conjunction with the Pizza Dishes and a new Grill and Pizza Tray.

Alliance Glasgow (4836) will put its SmartCook Pizza Oven to the test, with sample slices of pizza for visitors to try. The company claims the oven can cook a pizza from fresh in 90 seconds, with the appearance and taste of a pizza produced in a wood-fired oven. Silesia Grill Systems (4420) will also be putting its products to the test, with demonstrations including bacon cooked in 30 seconds and breakfasts in just one minute. Stangard (4615) is showcasing the latest catering equipment from Enodis UK Food Service, including Convotherm, Delfield Sadia, Frymaster, Lincoln, Masterwash, Merrychef, Moorwood Vulcan and the newly launched Garland Ultra modular and suited cooking equipment. One of the main attractions on the stand will be the new Convotherm Mini, designed to give the benefits of a steam combination oven to kitchens without the space for a full-size model.

Another revolutionary oven on display will be the Cuppone Evolution Corner Oven from sole importer Linda Lewis Kitchens (4726). It's designed to achieve maximum cook capacity with the optimum use of space, while mimicking a wood-burning stove without the health and safety implications.

Melitta (4736) will showcase its new HACCP Cafina Alpha, which it claims breaks new ground in speciality coffee making. The milk refrigerator holds two x four litres of different types of milk to extend coffee menus to include a "skinny" choice. The hopper can also hold two types of bean, allowing for wider choice.

The star on the Testo (4745) stand will be the Testo 106 Virtually Unbreakable Penetration Thermometer, designed for quick uncomplicated core temperature checks for all food types. Cater-Kwik (4825) will offer a 5% discount off brochure prices at the show, which will also see the launch of its Frysafe deep-fat fryer safety cut-out testing service.

The Eloma range of combi-ovens, offering a choice for both large and small catering operations, will be on the Falcon Foodservice Equipment (4426) stand along with the award-winning Falcon Infinity Fryer.

Bunzl Lockhart (4139) will show the latest designs in tableware and kitchen equipment, environmentally friendly disposable and cleaning products from Bunzl Catering Supplies and details of solutions from the company's design team, which offers a full kitchen design and installation service. Also, by having their passes scanned at the stand, visitors will be entered into a prize draw to win a set of Steelite Organics tableware for six settings.

New to Scotland is Tri-Star (4150), the food packaging solution provider, which has recently set up its first Scottish sales depot in Glasgow and will exhibit a biodegradable sandwich wedge and disposable packaging solutions.

Interiors and Tableware

If you want to add a little outside feel to your interior, Scotland-based interior landscaping company Trees R Green (4569) provides artificial trees for both interior and exterior displays, complemented by specialist containers to match and enhance existing interior design. Look out for the new hedging range, suitable for fencing off exterior smoking areas.

For flooring inspiration, Maine Carpet (4235) has the Vorwek Inspiration collection of patterned carpets, featuring 21 designs in a selection of more than 70 colourways to choose from. The new carpets carry the TUV seal "suitable for persons suffering from allergies" and are the first carpets on the market to be recommended by DAAB, the German allergy and asthma association, because of their ability to bind fine dust particles.

Silkwood Floor Coverings (4235) will launch its furniture and design portfolio called Silkwood Living. It includes companies such as Leolux and De Ploeg from the Netherlands.

Hilden (4025) will be showing product ranges and a new 68-page style brochure featuring table linen, bed linen, bath linen and kitchen linen products. For further fabric ideas, visit Pinewood Fabrics (4560/12), which will be displaying decorative fabrics by Drapilux.

Steelite International (4425) will display its latest ranges, including Float, Torino, Earth Tones, Sorrento and Ice, and will offer the chance to take home the complete suite of tableware from the Restaurant of Nations. Consisting of contemporary china from the Sheer and Contour ranges, Profile cutlery, Creations glass and Authentis stemware, the complete set is worth £3,000. To be in with a chance of winning, visitors must complete an entry form and place it in the competition entry box on the stand.

A new signature cutlery pattern, Siena, will be unveiled by Elia (4519). Also on display will be its Infuser thermal beverage jugs made from stainless steel with tapered curves and a soft satin sheen finish. John Artis (4725) will have new china ranges and glassware lines on display, plus plastic drinkware.

On the Marshall Wilson (4501) stand, Cap-It-All will be showing additions to its range of food service packaging products, including the full range of GoodLife environmentally friendly disposables, which includes moulded fibre products and Polylactic (PLA) cups, straws and food containers.

Technology

The latest touch-screen and wireless solutions for the hospitality industry can be seen at CRS Systems (4720), and Hospitality Technology (4215) invites you to view its new PMS system, Evolution Hotelier, which has been designed to take advantage of the growing internet-reservation market.

Long Range Systems (4746), inventor of the Guest Pager, will demonstrate how to enhance customer services with the help of its new Push for Service solutions, including the brand new Customer Pager in the shape of a pizza. Meanwhile, Call Systems Technology (4356) will launch a new version of its EasyCall system which, it claims, makes it easier than ever for customers to call for service and easier for staff to respond.

EPoS systems will feature at MCR Systems (4455) with the launch of the Uniwell DX915 touch-screen terminal which, it's claimed, can deliver reliability, speed and affordability, and can withstand challenging conditions found in hospitality and catering environments.

More of the latest in EPoS technology will come from Maitre'D by Posera (4306), whose most recent edition aims to offer greater flexibility to accommodate all types of operations, menus and brands.
