SECC marks 25th anniversary with awards for Compass and VisitScotland

The Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC) has honoured four hospitality organisations, including Compass Group and VisitScotland, with Champions Awards as part of the venue's 25th anniversary celebrations.

The Glasgow Restaurateurs Association and Glasgow Hoteliers were also recognised for their support of the meetings, conference and exhibition venue.

The SECC has hosted the VisitScotland Expo, and its predecessor, Scotland's Travel Fair, 13 times in the past 22 years, while Compass Group has been a key supplier and catering provider at the venue since it first opened its doors.

Andy Hardy, business director of sport and arenas for the caterer, said he was proud to receive the award on behalf of Compass and its team, both past and present.

"We have worked with the SECC since the beginning and look forward to continuing our long-standing working relationship with them."

Dr Mike Cantlay, chairman of VisitScotland, added: "It's fantastic to be part of the success of an iconic venue like the SECC, which continually adds value to Scottish business tourism and consistently brings delegates and visitors from the UK and further afield to conferences and events."

The Glasgow Restaurateurs Association was honoured for its support not only of the venue but the city as a whole, while Glasgow hoteliers were thanked for their collaboration with city partners in bringing events and conferences to the city.

The SECC will draw its 25th anniversary celebrations to a close at the end of this month, following a series of 25 awards announced in recognition of those people and organisations that have contributed to the sustained success of the venue.
