Seven regional champions named in Teflon Diamond Standard Awards

Among the national judges are Adam Smith, premier sous chef at the Ritz, London, Chris Moore, chief executive from the Clink Charity, Anne Pierce, chief executive of Springboard's FutureChef and Wilbert Broeksmit from DuPont Teflon. Caterer and Hotelkeeper‘s group editor Mark Lewis will also be among the judges.

The Teflon Diamond Standard Awards are supported by Tesco, nonstick cookware manufacturer Crealys, nonstick bakeware supplier Europasonic, cooking liner supplier NoStik and LefChef by specialist chefswear supplier Dennys Uniforms.

Wilbert Broeksmit said: "The Teflon Diamond Standard Awards have been a successful initiative from DuPont to recognise excellence on the part of young chefs in the UK. It was evident that there was a gap here between the existing FutureChef for younger students and the first professional awards that chefs can enter in their 20s. So we believe we are helping provide much needed recognition for the achievements and skills of students just at the point when they are poised to choose a career or enter further education. I am delighted at the support we have received from the catering industry in the first year of the Awards. Now we look forward to the Final Cook off to see which team will carry home the trophy!"
