Silent auction for St Julian Scholars
A silent auction is being held by the St Julian Scholars in aid of the Worshipful Company of Innholders' quincentennial year appeal.
2015 marks 500 years since Henry VIII signed the company's Royal Grant of Incorporation; the parchment hangs on the wall at the Innholders' Hall.
So far, the 40 auction lots that have been pledged by people from within the hospitality industry have raised almost £15,000 worth of bids.
Lots include overnight stays at hotels in the UK and abroad, dinner and wine, cookery classes, spa visits and sporting getaways.
The money raised will help create more opportunities for people to access the scholarships and a secure long-term funding base.
The Master Innholder Scholarship programme awards scholarships annually to managers in the hospitality industry. Successful candidates are granted places on a two-week management development course at Cranfield University, Cornell University (USA), or the École Hôtelière de Lausanne (Switzerland). The entire cost of tuition, board and lodging is included as well as a contribution towards travel to Cornell and Lausanne.
To auction is expected to close in just over a week. For more information or to make a bid visit www.sjsauction500.org
