Sodexo retained by Devon NHS Trust in multimillion-pound deal

Sodexo has been retained by Northern Devon Healthcare Trust for five more years in a multimillion-pound deal.

The caterer and facilities management company, which has provided services to the NHS trust since 1997, provides 3,000 staff and patients with catering, housekeeping, portering, cleaning, post room and reception management services.

Northern Devon Healthcare Trust comprises five community hospitals and two health centres in the North Devon area. The deal is worth £3.8m in annual turnover.

Iain Roy, director of facilities at the trust, said: "Working in partnership has been the key to our success.

"Sodexo and trust staff work really hard together with a common goal of providing the best services we possibly can to patients visitors and staff."

David Platt, Sodexo operations director, said the company was delighted to have been awarded the extension and looked forward to building on current successes.

The trust was recently named as one of the most improved within the NHS and last month Sodexo and North Devon received an "excellent" rating as part of the National Patient Safety Agency initiative.
