Sodexo wins £12m contract with Richmond University
Sodexo has won a £12m contract to supply catering services to Richmond, the American International University, based in London.
The food and facilities management firm will employ 40 staff to cater for the university's 700 students across campuses in Richmond and Kensington.
As part of the 10-year deal, Sodexo will provide investment into the refurbishment of the catering facilities at the university, including two new retail outlets on both campuses.
Peter Taylor, head of universities, Sodexo Education, said: We are delighted to have been awarded the contract at what is a unique and prestigious university.
"Richmond University provides academic excellence to what is an incredibly diverse audience and we are pleased to be able to support them to do what they do best."
Student feeding will move from a fixed number of meals per week to an allowance system that will let students choose when and where they take refreshments.
In addition, a number of environmental initiatives will be introduced such as using recycled materials in the refurbishment programme, staff training to reduce the consumption of utilities and procuring from sustainable sources where possible.
The private university attracts students from North America and across the globe, with over 100 nationalities being represented across the two campuses.
