Springboard seek volunteers for Peru trek

The Springboard charity is looking to recruit hospitality professionals who are eager to undertake a life-changing trek and as the same time help young people in need.

Taking place in Peru, from 11 to 22 March 2016, the five-day trek to the Mayan city of Machu Picchu, will be followed by a three-day volunteering project involving the installation of solar panels to a school without electricity. The participants will also teach English and computer skills.

Anne Pierce, chief executive of Springboard, which helps young, disadvantaged people into work, said: "This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to make a difference to people's lives, because the funds raised will improve young people's prospects for the better, both at home and in Peru."

The trip will cost £1,800, with participants expected to raise a minimum of £3,200 in donations to Springboard.

The Peru trek will be the sixth undertaken by Springboard following earlier expeditions to the Sahara, China, Peru, Nepal and India.

Earlier this year, 32 volunteers raised a total of £70,000 as a result of their Indian trek, which will help to fund 70 young people into work within the hospitality sector.
