StreetSmart calls on operators to get involved in its 2012 campaign
Restaurant and hotel charity StreetSmart has launched its 2012 campaign and is calling on operators to get involved.
StreetSmart and its hotel counterpart SleepSmart, which will run in 19 cities and regions across the UK in November and December, raise money for the homeless by asking diners to add £1 to their bill.
Sponsored by Deutsche Bank, which covers all of the charity's administration costs, all proceeds are used for projects supporting people back to employment and sustainable independent living.
Restaurants including Nobu, St John, the River Café, Maze and Arbutus in London as well as the Kitchin in Edinburgh and Alimentum in Cambridge participate each year, and this year sees the support of newcomers like 10 Greek Street, La Bodega Negra and D&D London's restaurants at the Old Bengal Warehouses.
Participating hotels include the Lancaster, Hyatt Regency - The Churchill, and the Landmark in London as well as the Lowry in Manchester and Chewton Glen in Hampshire. Apex Hotels, myhotels and the Park Plaza Hotel Group are also taking part.
Last year the campaigns raised more than £790,000 and provided funding to 110 homeless charities across 19 cities.
To get involved in this year's campaign, restaurant owners can sign up on the StreetSmart website at www.streetsmart.org.uk/sign-up.php
