The Caterer launches quarterly employment market barometer

The Caterer is set to launch a groundbreaking new quarterly survey to gauge the mood of both UK hospitality staff and their employers, as part of a collaboration with hospitality and promotions staffing agency LOLA Staffing.

The new survey, which is set to launch next month, will look at a range of issues affecting agency workers such as pay, welfare and career progression.

Uniquely, it will take account of the views of agency workers and of their employers separately and see if the views of the two groups differ, and if so, how.

It will also look at important contemporary issues each quarter, so next month expect to see questions about the impact Britain's potential departure from the European Union would have on the hospitality sector, as well as questions about the impending introduction of the new National Living Wage in April.

The results of the survey will be revealed each quarter in the pages of The Caterer magazine, as well as online, with the potential to see how both employees' and employers' views shift over time.

"We are delighted to be working with LOLA Staffing on this exciting new project," said The Caterer's publisher Mark Lewis.

"With their help, we expect to be able to provide a really comprehensive view of what agency workers think about the employment marketplace in the hospitality sector today, and it should provide valuable feedback to employees and employers alike."
