The Witham – Expressions of interest sought for provision of catering services

The Witham is a collection of grade II listed buildings providing a mixture of cultural, community and commercial activity in the centre of Barnard Castle, County Durham. The buildings are currently being refurbished and restored, and the new Witham is expected to open in early Summer 2013. They will comprise a combined Visitor Information Point/box office/retail space; a gallery; a link building with a counter based catering service of a foyer café/bar type; a 250 seat multi-purpose event hall providing facilities for theatre, concerts, cinema, commercial presentations, community uses and functions; artists' studios; and other meeting spaces and rooms of various capacities.

To assist with operating the venue The Witham needs to appoint a catering contractor to run the café/bar and provide catering services associated with the range of uses. The Catering Contract will be an important element contributing to The Witham's funds and The Witham will work in partnership with the Contractor to develop events and activities which have the capability of increasing the use of the buildings and, therefore, the catering service.

A 3 year contract based on a percentage share of revenue is being offered.

For a tender package please contact The Witham on 01833631107, by email at or by writing to The Witham, Woodleigh, Flatts Road, Barnard Castle, County Durham, DL12 8AA.

The completed tender must be returned to the above address no later than 3pm on Monday 10th December 2012.
