Tivoli invites designs for new Copenhagen hotel
Hotel company Tivoli is planning to open a new hotel in Copenhagen in 2009 and has asked a number of international architects to propose designs for the property. The 160-room hotel will be located opposite the Danish capital's City Hall in the north corner of the city's pleasure gardens. Tivoli, which is currently in talks with high-end hotel operators to manage the property, has invited London's Foster & Partners, Connecticut's Pickard Chilton, and New York-based Pei Cobb Freed & Partners to present their design ideas. The hotel, which will comprise an area of 5,000sq m, will rise above Copenhagen's historic buildings and offer views across the city.

Radisson to increase presence in Central and South America
Radisson Hotels & Resorts plans to increase its presence in Central and South America over the next five years. The company aims to have a strong presence in gateway cities such as Sao Paulo, Santiago, Buenos Aires and Lima by 2011. Radisson currently has 18 hotels and resorts in Latin America with a further six under development. By the first half of 2007, two new Radisson hotels are scheduled to open in Brazil, including the 180-room hotel in Londrina, and a 220-room resort property in the south-east region. The company has also signed management contracts for three new-build projects in Brazil to open in 2008 and 2009, including a 140-room marina location in Florianopolis, a 200-room hotel in Campinas, and a 140-room Radisson Resort in Natal.

Leela Palaces open Club at Leela Kovalam Kempinski Beach Resort
Leela Palaces and Resorts has opened The Club at the Leela Kovalam Kempinski Beach Resort in Kerala, India. Located 15km from Trivandrum Airport and situated on a cliff-top between two beaches, the property features a hotel within a hotel concept and includes 49 rooms and seven suites. It also includes a fine dining restaurant, a sea-view terrace with an infinity pool, cigar lounge, library bar, gym and spa. Guests of the club will have access to all amenities of the Leela Kovalam Beach resort, which is spread across 44 acres of beachfront

Hilton opens fourth hotel in South Korea and signs deal in China
Hilton Hotels Corporation has launched its fourth property in South Korea, with the opening of its first Worldwide Resort in the country. The Hilton Namhae golf & spa resort property is a 170 all-suite and villa estate including four restaurants.
Separately, Hilton has signed a multi-year agreement with Chinese automobile manufacturer Tianjin Automobile Industrial, to manage an upscale hotel in Tianjin. The 360-room Doubletree by Hilton hotel Tianjin is scheduled to open in late 2007 and will feature a number of bars and restaurants and banqueting facilities.

Swiss choose Gate Gourmet as partner
Swiss International Air Lines has awarded a multi-year catering contract to airline caterer and services provider Gate Gourmet for catering services in Switzerland and in selected locations outside the country. The agreement covers catering and provisioning services at the airline's main Zurich location as well as at Geneva and Basel.
