Top names to star at big industry show
Hospitality 2007, which expects 14,000 visitors at the UK's largest exhibition for food service and hospitality, is gearing up for one of the most impressive Salon Culinaire line-ups yet.
The event at Birmingham's NEC from 22-24 January, will host a La Parade des Chefs featuring three competitors brought in by private invitation. Chefs from Gleneagles, Claridge's and the Michelin-starred Simpsons restaurant have been challenged to prepare, cook and present a three-course plated meal for 80 covers in a specially designed glass kitchen. Visitors can experience the competition atmosphere by eating at the fine-dining restaurant in the heart of the show for £30 a head.
The Live Theatre is putting on a new competition called Gram Master Class, sponsored by Gram UK. Chefs are given 30 minutes to prepare, cook and present two plated portions of a main course dish suitable for a modern gastropub.
The Skillery will show off culinary techniques from Chef of the Year finalist David Hunt and a team of chefs who will compete for a chance to represent England in the WorldSkills competition in February.
