TUCO invites applications for China study trip

The University Caterers Organisation (TUCO) is inviting applications from its members to take part in a study trip to China.

The 10-day excursion, which follows the success of TUCO's trip to the US last October, will offer participants access to the catering operations of three top Asian universities: Peking University, Nankai University and Hong Kong University.

The itinerary also includes visits to outlets in Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Hong Kong, where the delegation will be exposed to the intricacies and authenticity of Chinese cooking.

Applications to participate in the trip, which will take place in early September, are now open and TUCO is offering a range of bursary options to its members.

Julie Barker, TUCO chair, commented: "The student experience is at the heart of what our members do and gleaning first-hand the knowledge and skills that meet this section of our ever widening student community will provide a cutting edge for operators.

"I'm extremely proud that we have facilitated this learning opportunity and are helping our members go on such a worth-while and stimulating experience. Last year, members came back packed with fresh thoughts and knowledge that they absorbed during their time in America; I cannot wait to see what educational souvenirs our next group will bring home from China and share with their teams."

TUCO is still accepting applications for its next study trip to the National Restaurant Association Show in Chicago, USA, in May. The closing date is 4 March.
