University of Exeter opens £48m conference and events venue the Forum
The Forum, a major new venue for the conference and events market, has launched in Exeter following a £48m capital investment programme.
Funded by the University of Exeter, the Forum is equipped with progressive technology, extensive sustainability measures and catering from the in-house team led by head chef Richard Narramore under its striking gridshell roof.
Following a two years of construction, the Forum includes a 400-capacity auditorium (pictured), 12 seminar rooms with the capacity of 25 featuring a flexible walling system, and two "exploration laboratories", as well as networking areas and space for up to 40 exhibition stands.
Businesswoman and former dragon from the BBC's Dragon's Den Deborah Meaden was awarded an honorary degree from the University of Exeter Business School and she described the Forum as an important addition to the University.
"Not just in terms of what it offers students but the wider opportunities it affords by drawing high-yielding business events to the local area," she said. "This new facility underlines the university's drive in being the best in the world for education and knowledge."
The Forum was officially opened by Her Majesty the Queen on 2 May.
