Water Efficiency Awards deadline extended
The Environment Agency has extended the deadline for entries for the 2009 Water Efficiency Awards by a month.
Last year's overall winner of the pan-industry awards, which recognise companies' efforts to reduce water consumption, was the family-run Malvern Hotel & The Blues Grill in Margate, Kent.
Now in their ninth year, the awards have been given a new look and businesses from England and Wales can apply online at the Water Efficiency Awards website.
Research conducted for the awards suggests that many UK businesses plan to cut back on investment in sustainability measures during the recession.
This is despite government-backed Envirowise estimating they could save £9m a day through simple water efficiency measures.
Winners of 2009's competition will be announced at a ceremony aboard the HMS President on the Thames in London 15 July.
