Young Chef Young Waiter winners 2006

Chef Neil Borthwick and waiter Joseph Durrant have been crowned Young Chef and Young Waiter respectively for 2006.

Borthwick, who works at London's Connaught hotel, and Durrant, from Edinburgh's Atrium restaurant, both win £2,000 and a study trip to Barbados.

The pair received their awards at the House of Commons last week after a cook-and-serve competition at London's Westminster Kingsway College.

Second and third places went to chefs Stephen Williams of the Ledbury, London, and Lisa Allen of Northcote Manor, Langho, Lancashire; and waiters Arnaud Menoret of Read's Restaurant, Faversham, Kent, and Sadrine Guerillon of the Four Seasons Hotel, London.

The competition is organised by the Restaurant Association and Springboard in partnership with American Express and the Savoy Educational Trust.
