Gastrono-me seeking sites for national restaurant expansion

The team behind Bury St Edmunds restaurant Gastrono-me are looking to expand the business to multiple UK sites over the next three years.

Founders Gem and Mike Simmonite launched the all-day restaurant in 2011 and relocated it to a larger venue in the town three years ago.

Now they are working with property firm Stonebrook London to find sites targeting ABC1 consumers around the country.

They are currently in talks with a venue in Cambridge with other target locations including Brighton, Oxford, Cheltenham, Reading, Bath and Cardiff.

A spokesperson confirmed that the restaurant's expansion is backed by a group of private equity and high-net-worth investors who have experience investing in hospitality projects.

The 108-cover Gastrono-me in Bury St Edmunds offers breakfast, bottomless brunches and dinner.

Dishes include triple-stack pancakes with bacon, fried egg and maple syrup; triple-cheese macaroni with a choice of extras; and a selection of burgers and hot dogs.

It also houses an underground speakeasy-style karaoke room for parties and private functions.
