Six food operators sought for Greenwich Design District

The Design District development in London's Greenwich is seeking six food traders to partner on its catering arm in 2021.

The project has been developed by Knight Dragon and is described as London's first ‘permanent, purpose-built hub for the creative industries'.

Comprised of 16 buildings designed by eight architects, it will require daily catering for more than 10,000 creatives, students and residents, as well as those visiting the nearby O2 arena.

The Design District Canteen is scheduled to open spring 2021 inside a ‘caterpillar-shaped structure' with a ‘tree canopy' for diners to eat in.

The space will feature a shared production kitchen for both on-site and delivery sales, and each food operator will be offered one-on-one coaching and mentoring,

A press announcement said: "The aim is to provide a platform for a modern selection of the very best food and drink businesses, nurturing chefs and operators delivering them with the conditions they need to thrive."

The Canteen is a covered outdoor dining area, which will allow for Covid restrictions such as social distancing, table service and regulated group dining.

Interested operators should contact stephen@prescientgroup.uk for more information.
