The AA has awarded new rosettes to 14 UK restaurants
Home by James Sommerin in Wales and Sorrel in Surrey have been awarded four AA rosettes at the AA Rosette Awards 2026.
Four AA rosettes are given to restaurants delivering “outstanding gastronomy with precision, flair and unwavering consistency, ranking them among the finest in the country”.
James Sommerin opened the Penarth restaurant in 2021 following the unexpected closure of his Michelin-starred restaurant in 2020. The AA praised Home for its “family affair and welcoming space”.
Meanwhile, the Michelin-starred Sorrel in Dorking, led by chef Alex Payne, formerly executive chef at the Tudor Pass at the Great Fosters hotel, was recognised for its “first-rate seasonal produce, excellent technical skills and first-class presentation”.
Twelve restaurants received three AA rosettes, which are given to those showing “outstanding culinary excellence”, including 74 Charlotte Street by Ben Murphy in London’s Fitzrovia, Bonheur by Matt Abé in London’s Mayfair and Ugly Butterfly by Adam Handling at the Headland hotel in Cornwall.
For the first time, the awards also celebrated the AA Sommelier of the Year Award, which recognised Cathryn Bell at Fernery at Grove of Narberth for her “exceptional knowledge, instinct and the ability to elevate the guest experience through expertly curated wine pairings”.
Simon Numphud, managing director at AA Media, said: “Our Spring update and the latest set of award recipients once again highlights the strength of the British culinary scene. The talent, skill and commitment to quality we’ve seen this year in the backdrop of a challenging environment is incredibly inspiring.”
There were no new restaurants awarded the maximum five rosettes this year.
