Honest Burgers’ smashburger spin-off launches breakfast menu

Honest Burgers’ smashburger restaurant, Honest Smash + Grab, has launched its first breakfast menu in a bid to challenge the likes of McDonald’s McMuffins.

The London Liverpool Street restaurant is now serving toasted and buttered Breakfast Muffins starting from £3.50 with toppings such as Denhay dry-cured smoked bacon and over easy free-range fried egg, melted cheese and crispy shoestring fries.

The signature Honest Breakfast Muffin (£6.95) will include Blackwell & Co sausage patty, crispy Denhay smoked bacon, free-range fried egg, cheese and shoestring fries, while add-ons such as extra bacon, halloumi or smashed avocado will also be available. Orders can be paired to hash brown tater tots.

Honest has partnered with specialty roasters Craft House Coffee to offer coffees starting from £2.95. A full breakfast order featuring an Honest Breakfast Muffin, coffee and crispy tater tots will total £9.95.

Honest Burgers was founded by friends Tom Barton and Philip Eeles in Brighton in 2009. In 2017, it launched its own London butchery and the brand has since grown to almost 40 restaurants.

In December 2024, it opened its first Smash + Grab site as part of its expansion into the QSR sector.

Smash + Grab serves a menu of seven burgers, including a Smash Cheese (£6.95), Smash Bacon (£7.50), Smash Plant (£8.95) and BBQ Chicken (£8.95).

The wider menu includes chicken tenders (from £4.50), loaded or rosemary chips (from £3.25), milkshakes (from £4.95) and a range of soft drinks and beers.

It launched with the backing of a crowdfunding campaign that raised £2.7m in 2023. At the time, Honest Burgers said it was looking to “challenge the big guys” with its smashburgers, which cook in less than two minutes.
