Horseradish appoints Ian Penn as head chef

Event caterer Horseradish has appointed Ian Penn as its head chef to oversee the day-to-day running of the operation and develop new food concepts.

Penn, from Stone in Staffordshire, joins the events management and catering division of Chester Race Company with more than 27 years' experience as a chef.

The Caterer Summit next week â€" and Claridge’s, where he oversaw conferencing and events, serving clients including the Queen.

Penn said: “I’m delighted to be appointed head chef at Horseradish. It’s an exciting, dynamic and rapidly growing brand, delivering restaurant standard food to a fast growing range of clients.

“Whether it’s for 25 people at Tatton Park, 3,000 on race day or 900 at Liverpool Cathedral, the standards are just as exacting. With this in mind, I’ll be working hard to ensure we maintain these standards, with a clear focus on customer satisfaction and efficiency.”

Established in 2009 to cater for the 200,000 people visiting Chester Racecourse every year, Horseradish has since secured several contracts with a variety of clients.

These include Speke Hall in Liverpool, Liverpool Cathedral, Chester Town Hall, St George’s Hall in Liverpool and the Cholmondeley Pageant of Power, held annually at Cholmondeley Castle in Cheshire.
