2023 is set to be a big year for new hotels. With many much-anticipated hotels finally opening their doors, across the UK there are venues from budget to high-end.

Virgin Hotels is heading to Glasgow after opening in Edinburgh last June. The group's latest Scottish property will feature 240 bedrooms across 15 floors, four dining and drinking spaces and panoramic views of the River Clyde. Each room has a dressing room that is separated from the lounge, while signature suites include a Sir Richard Flat and Lady B's Flat.

Raffles London at the OWO

Raffles London at the OWO will be located in a Grade II-listed former Old War Office in Whitehall, once used by political leaders including Sir Winston Churchill and David Lloyd George. It will feature 120 rooms and suites, nine restaurants and bars – three of which will be overseen by Mirazur chef Mauro Colagreco – and a spa and a health club.

The redevelopment has been led by the family-run Hinduja Group and the interior design was spearheaded by Thierry Despont, who has transformed landmark buildings including the Statue of Liberty and Maison Cartier.

The Mole Resort is to open as a luxury lodge resort following a £25m redevelopment programme. All lodges will feature a large deck with outdoor dining facilities, hot tubs and kitchens and extra spaces for dogs. Guests can participate in swimming, fitness classes, golf, tennis, pickle ball and trout fishing.

Art'otel Battersea

Art'otel London Battersea Power Station will be the first Art'otel to open in the UK. The 164 bedroom hotel will feature a skyline rooftop restaurant and bar, café, rooftop swimming pool, gym, spa, event facilities and an art gallery. Spanish artist and designer Jaime Hayon led on the interiors for the art-inspired lifestyle hotel, which also pay homage to the history of the power station.

Mandarin Oriental Mayfair

Mandarin Oriental Mayfair is to open in the spring with 50 rooms, a spa, a 25-metre swimming pool and chef Akira Back's first UK restaurant. The Korean-born, Colorado-raised chef has over 20 restaurants across the globe and has also been awarded a Michelin star. The bedrooms have been designed by Studio Indigo, while the hotel's public spaces have been taken on by Tokyo based studio Curiosity.

The BoTree, sister property to Shiva group's Middle Eight in Covent Garden and the Guardsman hotel in Westminster, is due to open in London's Marylebone in summer 2023. The hotel will feature 199 bedrooms, bars, two restaurants, a live music club, a boutique screening room and a fitness centre. The Presidential Suite will offer views across London as well as access to a private elevator lobby, guest entrance and an outdoor terrace.

Dao by Dorsett, Hornsey Town Hall

Dao By Dorsett will open its third site, Dao by Dorsett Hornsey Town Hall, in a fully restored Grade II-listed building with an 80-year history. Alongside its 68 apartments and suites, there will also be an arts centre for events, co-working spaces, a cinema, F&B outlets and a rooftop terrace.

The Bracken Hide, Isle of Skye

The Bracken Hide in the Isle of Skye will be a wilderness resort with 45 en suite cabins across four tiers, a wild plunge pool, an Estonian sauna, a cinema room and a family-run restaurant, Fraser's. The hotel has also partnered with Skye Adventure, who will offer adventures such as scaling the Cuillin mountain range and kayaking along the coastline.

Mollie's Manchester

Mollie's Manchester will be the group's most ambitious opening to date, in a move away from its road-side motel and diner sites in Oxfordshire and Bristol. The 100,000 sq ft hotel will be designed by Soho House and offer 130 rooms, a 150-cover diner, a large cocktail bar with live music, private event spaces, a lounge bar, deli, swimming pool and heated outdoor terrace.

Treehouse Manchester will occupy the former site of the Renaissance Hotel in Deansgate following a £200m redevelopment. It will focus on sustainability and will feature a roof garden and a system to harvest rainwater. The hotel will also feature a top-floor restaurant and bar.

Opening Summer

The carnival-themed Ruby Zoe is due to open this summer in London's Notting Hill. It will also feature smart space and digitising systems for the group's ‘lean luxury' philosophy.
