£1m-plus sought for award-winning New Forest hotel

An award-winning guesthouse in the New Forest has been put on the market with a £1.07m price tag.

The Winchester office of Christie + Co is handling the sale of the freehold Rufus House hotel in the centre of Lyndhurst, Hampshire, right in the heart of the New Forest.

The hotel, which was built in 1876 as a country residence and retains many period features, holds five AA diamonds and won an AA Red Diamond Supreme Achievement Award in 2004

It has 11 en-suite bedrooms, including the Tower Suites which have their own lounge and views across the forest.

Along with a 25-seat dining room, the property includes owners' accommodation on the ground floor made up of four double en-suite bedrooms, a sitting room and a laundry/utility room.

The landscaped gardens include a rockery and koi carp pond and the grounds offer car parking at both the rear and the front.

"The Rufus House hotel was purchased by the existing owner, Mr Carter, in April 2003 and within this relatively short period, turnover has significantly increased," said Ed Bellfield at Christie + Co in Winchester.

"The business provides an exciting opportunity for any new owner to continue the growth in turnover for this unique hotel in Lyndhurst."
