AA announces new red star awards

The 28-bedroom Egerton House hotel, London, owned by the Red Carnation Hotel Collection, has been awarded five red-stars by the AA.

Red stars are awarded to hotels that are regarded as the very best within their rating, regardless of style.

As well as the one new five-red-AA star hotel, the AA has also promoted four four-star properties to red-star status. They are: Buckland Manor, Buckland, Gloucestershire; Bedford Lodge, Newmarket, Suffolk; Beechfield House Hotel, Beanacre, Wiltshire; and Amberley Castle, Amberley, West Sussex.

Simon Numphud, head of AA hotel services, said: "The criteria for AA Red Stars is consistent excellence in all areas of a hotel's operation, and these newly awarded properties join an elite group of top performers within the hotel industry. It is encouraging to see that there are still so many hotels pushing the boundaries and striving for high standards and excellent quality".
