Abode adds Rossetti to growing portfolio

Fledgling boutique hotel group Abode has bought its fifth property, the Rossetti hotel in Manchester, Caterer can exclusively reveal.

Abode bought the 60-bedroom property for an undisclosed sum from Alias hotels yesterday (12 April).

The hotel will continue trading under its current name until it is rebranded towards the end of the year.

Nick Halliday, head of operations at Abode, said: "The acquisition of the Rossetti is pivotal in our aim to establish the brand at the very heart of a number of the UK's towns and cities."

Abode's co-owner Andrew Brownsword plans to expand the portfolio to 15-20 sites within 10 years. Locations on his wish list include Edinburgh, Newcastle, Durham, Leeds, Liverpool, Bristol, Bath and London.

The hotels will continue to be developed in conjunction with Michael Caines's dining experiences, including the two-Michelin-starred chef's Café and Vibe bars and fine-dining restaurants.

The Manchester hotel joins properties in Glasgow, Exeter, Canterbury and Chester. Glasgow's new Vibe Bar is due to open on 27 April.
