Abu Dhabi hotel displays world's most expensive Christmas tree

A jewel-encrusted Christmas tree - believed to be the world's most expensive - is adorning the lobby of the 302-bedroom Emirates Palace hotel in Abu Dhabi.

Standing 43 feet high, the tree - itself worth $10,000 (£6,500) - has necklaces, bracelets and watches draped over its branches among traditional baubles and lights. The total value of the tree is $11m (£7m).

The idea of the hotel's marketing team, the tree has resulted in worldwide media attention.

Four security guards, aided by security cameras, keep watch over the tree 24 hours a day.
