Accor rebrands as AccorHotels

French hotel group Accor has rebranded as AccorHotels as it looks to triple the number of properties it offers on its website by signing up more independent hotels.

The new group name encompasses 12 brands, including Sofitel, Mercure, Novotel, Ibis and Ibis Styles, across a portfolio of 3,700 hotels in 92 countries. It eventually hopes to offer digital distribution through AccorHotels.com to more than 10,000 hotels worldwide.

AccorHotels will now boast the Feel Welcome tagline and logo in all its communications.

Sébastien Bazin, chairman and chief executive, said the new name reflects the group's aim "to go further, faster".

"Accor becomes AccorHotels and proudly reassumes its role as a pioneer hotelier that never stops innovating and surprising, at the cutting edge of digital technology, but while remaining a hotelier, first and foremost. The Feel Welcome promise is a strong commitment to all our audiences and enriches the bond between the group and its brands."
