Accor signs five new hotels

French hotel group Accor has signed five new hotels under three different brands, in London and Edinburgh.

The capital will see the launch of three hotels, the first which will be the 202-bedroom Novotel Brentford, which will operate under a lease agreement with Brentford Hotels, a subsidiary of the Pedersen Group.

This will be followed by the 115-bedroom Ibis Styles in Kensington, under a franchise agreement with Chatteris Kensington, subsidiary of the Singapore-listed Heeton Group, and the 184-bedroom Mercure London Heathrow, which will be operated under by Crimson Hotels.

Meanwhile, Edinburgh will see the launch of two leased hotels: the 161-bedroom Ibis Budget, Edinburgh Park, and the 103-bedroom Ibis Styles, St Andrew Square (pictured).

Thomas Dubaere, managing director, Accor UK & Ireland said: "These openings further strengthen our presence in the key business and leisure locations of London and Edinburgh and are another important step in expanding our UK network.

"As part of our ambitious expansion plans we are demonstrating our commitment to strengthening the portfolio across our budget and midscale brand segments."

All five hotels will open later this year or in 2015, taking the current portfolio of UK hotels up to 170.
