AccorHotels confirms world's tallest Novotel will open in London

AccorHotels has confirmed it will open its flagship Novotel in London's Canary Wharf this year, as it moves to strengthen its presence in the UK.

The hotel, which will be the tallest Novotel in the world, is one of five new hotels the group is planning to open in the UK by September 2017. The group also confirmed this week it is looking for further development opportunity in the UK.

Situated at 40 Marsh Street, the Canary Wharf Novotel, which is 127 metres high, will be the tallest Novotel in the world and one of the tallest buildings in the area.

The four-star hotel will offer 313 rooms including 26 suites, as well as nine meeting rooms and breakout areas, all individually designed.

Thomas Dubaere, MD of AccorHotels UK & Ireland said: "We're excited to make this announcement. More information will follow in due course including details of the cutting edge restaurant and bar concepts included in the hotel and the building's sustainability credentials. Canary Wharf will be the flagship Novotel for AccorHotels UK & Ireland and will significantly strengthen our portfolio."

Hervé Deligny, COO of HotelInvest, AccorHotels UK, added: "The Novotel Canary Wharf is a prime example of the new development work we are seeking to undertake. It is a top quality, well-designed and constructed hotel in a prime location, exactly the kind of development opportunity we are looking to add to our UK portfolio."

The other four hotels which the group plans to open in the UK by 2017 are the 120-room Ibis Styles at Ealing Apex in London, scheduled to open in August, the 231-room Ibis Cambridge, due to open in September, and the 146-room Adagio property in Edinburgh and the 196-room Ibis hotel in London's Canning Town, both of which will open by September 2017.

The Canary Wharf Novotel is a marquee investment for AccorHotels' HotelInvest division, which was formed in November 2013 following a major restructuring of the business into two separate divisions: HotelServices, a hotel operator and franchisor, and HotelInvest, a hotel owner and investor.
