AccorHotels signs two new Mercure hotels

AccorHotels has announced the addition of two properties in Hertfordshire and Oxfordshire to what is now an 82-strong portfolio of Mercure hotels in the UK.

The 61-bedroom Hunton Park hotel in Watford and the 44-bedroom Lambert hotel in Watlington, near Thame, will be operated under franchise agreements with SR Hotels and the Estee Group respectively.

Hunton Park was acquired last month by SR Hotels from the Principal Hotel Company off a guide price of £10m. It had previously operated under the De Vere brand. The hotel, which has 21 meeting spaces, is expected to be extended next year with the addition of 16 bedrooms, leisure facilities and a spa.

The Lambert hotel, which previously operated as an unbranded property, is due to add 22 bedrooms, a gym and spa. The property recently joined Wanup, a new independent hotel loyalty programme.

Both hotels will take on the new brand name, becoming Mercure Hunton Park and Mercure Thame Lambert.

Thomas Dubaere, managing director of AccorHotels UK & Ireland, said: "Accelerating the franchise growth of the Mercure brand in the UK is a key focus for us in 2017. These signings show the strength of the brand in the UK, and we look forward to opening further Mercure hotels later this year."
