Acorn winner takes top job at Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park

Sarah Coy, a Caterer Acorn winner, has been promoted to the role of director of food and beverage at London's prestigious Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park.

Coy, 31, picked up an Acorn award for excellence in 2003 when assistant banqueting manager at London's Dorchester hotel.

Coy joined Mandarin as director of events in 2006 and succeeds David Nicholls who has taken on the role of global director of food and beverage at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group.

In her new role Coy will be responsible for the hotel's food and beverage strategy, overseeing Foliage and The Park restaurants, the Mandarin bar, six function rooms including the ballroom and room service.

Christoph Mares, general manager of the Mandarin, said: "In just over a year, Sarah has made a significant impact on our events business, building on the hotel's reputation as one of London's finest luxury venues."
