Andrew Birch appointed executive chef of Lainston House

Andrew Birch has been appointed executive chef of Exclusive Hotels & Venues' Lainston House hotel in Winchester, and will join the property in August.

Birch will oversee all food offerings at the five-AA-star, 50-bedroom hotel, including the three-AA-rosette Avenue restaurant. He joins Lainston from Fishmore Hall in Ludlow where he was head chef. Birch also worked at the three-AA-rosette Montagu Arms hotel in the New Forest as senior sous chef.

Birch said: "I'm delighted to be joining Lainston House and am very much looking forward to bringing my passion and experience to such a renowned hotel. I truly believe that British suppliers are at the root of the success of contemporary British cuisine, and I'm extremely excited to bring to life a menu which reflects this."

General manager Gaius Wyncoll added: "Andrew comes to us from a hugely impressive background, and we are thrilled to welcome him to the team. We're very excited about what Andrew has planned and are looking forward to an exciting new chapter at Lainston House."
