Andrew Boer appointed principal of the Edge Hotel School
A new principal has been appointed to run the Edge Hotel School, based at the four- star, 40-bedroom Wivenhoe House hotel in Colchester, Essex.
Andrew Boer, currently associate dean in the School of Tourism at Bournemouth University, responsible for the Hospitality and Retail Group, will take-up his post in September.
Boer, who has developed relationships with many hotel schools across the world while at the university, said that the innovative approach of the Edge Hotel School is raising the bar when it comes to higher education for the hospitality industry.
"The hotel school is developing the next generation of hospitality leaders and I am thrilled to become a part of this unique institution and help shape the future for both the students and the industry as a whole," he said.
Todd Landman, chair of the Edge Hotel School Limited Board, added: "We are delighted to welcome Andrew to the Edge Hotel School. He brings with him a wealth of experience in both education and hospitality and his passion for both will contribute immensely to the future success of the school."
Based in the grounds of the University of Essex, the Edge Hotel School offers students a fast-track, two-year intensive hotel management degree, through a combination of academic study and practical work experience.
Launched in 2012, the Edge Hotel School is a partnership between the University of Essex, its academic partner Kaplan, and the Edge Foundation.
