Andrew Thomason joins Gravetye Manor as managing director
Country house hotel Gravetye Manor in Sussex has appointed Andrew Thomason to the newly created role of managing director.
Thomason joins from his most recent role as general manager at Hotel Verta, where he oversaw the London property's opening in 2010.
Other past experience includes a spell as resident manager at Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons, Oxfordshire, and general manager at Lower Slaughter Manor, Gloucestershire.
Neville Ablitt, who has been the owners' representative since Gravetye Manor was acquired by Jeremy & Elizabeth Hosking in February 2010, will join the main board of the Hoskings' company, Saphos Hotels.
Commenting on Thomason's appointment, Ablitt said it would enable Gravetye Manor to develop and implement its future plans.
He added: "Following the hotel's multimillion-pound refurbishment programme, Andrew's depth of experience in the five-star country-house sector will be of great importance in returning Gravetye Manor to one of the best country house hotels in the country."
