Announcement of hotel operator imminent as work starts on 303-bedroom project in North Yorkshire
Work is now underway on the 303-bedroom hotel, near Knaresborough in North Yorkshire, which is being developed by Skelwith Leisure at a cost of £100m.
Due to open in 2015, the resort is to be located between York and Harrogate on the 27-hole Flaxby Park Golf Course.
It will feature a luxury spa and gym, restaurants and bars and boutiques, totalling more than 240,000sq ft in size.
Paul Ellis, managing director of Skelwith Leisure said: "For the past five years we've been speaking with some of the world's leading luxury hotel operators. Now that we're getting on with the construction, we will soon be in a position to be able to announce which company will manage the hotel.
"There has been a lot of interest as this is a major hotel development for the local area, region and the UK."
Golf management company Troon Golf is to manage the golf element of the business. It is hoped that the new hotel will attract high profile events to the resort.
Flaxby Country Resort will become the sister hotel of the 45-bedroom Raithwaite Hall Country Retreat in Sandsend, Whitby, which opened at a cost of £30m, in October 2011.
