Apex Hotels adds two new properties to portfolio

Apex Hotels has made two new site acquisitions, boasting its portfolio to seven.

The Edinburgh property is situated at Waterloo Place at the east end of Princess Street. It will undergo a £30m refurbishment to transform it into a 180-bedroom property.

Apex's new London site is an old office block on Copthall Avenue minutes from Bank and Moorgate underground stations in the City. It will be converted into a 70 to 80-bedroom hotel after a £25m investment.

Angela Vickers, managing director of Apex, said of the second site: "The demand for our London bedrooms, along with a highly buoyant market, is driving our expansion and we are confident our second London property will be equally successful."

Apex has appointed Ian Springford Architects to handle design duties at both properties.

An extension to its existing Apex City of London hotel is also planned after a £6m refurbishment of an adjacent office block, which will be transformed into an executive wing.
