Armed robbers escape from Soho hotel with money and phones

Police are appealing for witnesses following an armed robbery at the Dean Street Townhouse hotel in London's Soho.

Two suspects wearing masked hoodies and armed with guns burst into the 39-bedroom hotel which is part of the Soho House group, at around 3am yesterday morning and demanded money.

They threatened staff and tied up one male member of staff before escaping in an unknown direction with money and mobile phones. No-one was injured, but one man was treated for shock.

The suspects were said to speak with east European accents.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or was in the area at the time, should call 101.

The Dean Street Townhouse hotel was launched by Soho House, which is headed by Nick Jones, in 2009, with actress Gwyneth Paltrow cutting the ribbon. The hotel, together with its all-day dining restaurant, is a popular haunt for celebrities including Bryan Ferry and Kate Moss.
