Asia market contributes to Accor's sales
French hotel group Accor has announced a 5% like-for-like increase in turnover in the first six months of this year, to €3.64b (£2.52b).
Accor said 101 hotels were opened in the first half of this year. Out of these properties, 80% are operated under management contracts or franchise agreements. Of the remainder, 60% were in the economy sector and 40% mid to upmarket.
Asia saw the biggest increase in like-for-like sales for the period with a 24.7% rise. North America like-for-like sales jumped 10.7%, South America by 7.3% and the UK by 5.7%. Although the rate of sales growth was lower in Continental Europe.
Restaurants in Accor hotels also put in a robust performance with like-for-like sales up 9.1% during the half year.
