Assured Hotels takes over management of Cedar Court Hotels
Management company Assured Hotels is taking over the operation of the four-strong group, Cedar Court Hotels.
Privately owned Cedar Court Hotels started life in 1985 with its original property in Wakefield, which today boasts 149 bedrooms. It has since been joined by properties in Ainley Top, near Huddersfield (pictured) and Halifax, Harrogate and Bradford, all of which hold four AA stars.
A fifth hotel, the five-AA-star Cedar Court Grand in York, was sold last year to the Splendid Hospitality Group after being launched following a £30m redevelopment in 2010.
John Horvath stepped down as group hotel director of Cedar Court Hotels in August last year after spending 22 years building up the company to become Yorkshire's largest independent hotel group.
The management deal covers nearly 500 rooms across the four hotels.
Mathew Griffin, chief operating officer of Assured, said that the Cedar Court group has a lot going for it, especially its staff. "We are committed to the principles of continuing to offer honest Yorkshire hospitality which plays an important part in the Cedar Court philosophy.
"We have great experience of providing a smooth and uncomplicated transition and enjoyed a busy Christmas, serving over 16,000 customers across the group. Our plans for investment in future refurbishments will bring benefits for customers which, by the end of 2015, will translate into increased revenue."
Assured Hotels currently operates six hotels under full management, as well as working with 40 hotels in an advisory capacity. Iain Shelton and Gareth Pugh, deputy chairman and director respectively of Assured Hotels , are also managing partners of Premier Cru, which manages 14 hotels including the Montagu Arms in Beaulieu, Hampshire, and Lords of the Manor, Upper Slaughter, Gloucestershire.
