Atul Kochhar to open restaurant at JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai
Michelin-starred chef Atul Kochhar is to launch a restaurant in the Middle East with the opening of Rang Mahal at the forthcoming JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai.
The chef, who runs his flagship restaurant, Benares, on Berkeley Square in London as well as Ananda in Dublin, is the first of a total of nine restaurants to be announced by the luxury hotel ahead of its opening later this year.
Located on the fourth floor of the world's tallest hotel, Rang Mahal by Atul Kochhar will showcase the chef's cuisine, which fuses modern flavours with traditional Indian cooking methods.
Interiors at the 167-seat restaurant will feature carved stone pillars and wooden screens next to Indian murals and artefacts. There will also be an open-plan glass kitchen. The restaurant will also include a cocktail bar with a communal table at the centre.
"Indian cooking has become a globally recognised and appreciated cuisine and so what better location to launch my latest venture than Dubai - an established culinary capital thanks to a hugely cosmopolitan population with adventurous taste buds," Kochhar said.
Rupprecht Queitsch, general manager of the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai, added: "We are delighted to partner with such an established and respected chef as Atul Kochhar and look forward to a long and prosperous relationship with him and the team."
