Aurora Hotel Collection's Cairn Lodge on the market for £1.4m

Aurora Hotel Collection's Cairn Lodge Hotel in Auchterarder, Perthshire, has been put on the market for £1.4m.

The 10-bedroom country house hotel, near Gleneagles golf courses, was originally a Victorian hunting lodge. It features a lounge bar, a grill room and restaurant which opens onto an outside terrace. A detached five-bedroom lodge is situated adjacent to the hotel and is available under separate negotiation.

Aurora, founded by former Acorn Award winner and chief executive Steven McLeod, opened the hotel in 2012 following a £3m refurbishment. A spokesperson for Aurora said that the company is looking to concentrate on its larger properties. The group has six properties across Scotland, including the 40-bedroom Hotel Colessio in Stirling and the 40-bedroom Kenmore hotel in Perthshire.

Stuart Drysdale, associate director at specialist business property adviser Christie & Co is handling the sale. He said: "The business offers the perfect combination of modern 21st century amenities in an easily accessible countryside location. Due to its close proximity to Gleneagles, the hotel experiences a high number of visitors as well as increased business in the Grill Room, which is popular with both guests, local and passing trade from the nearby A9 trunk road."
