Figures from across the hospitality sector have been recognised in the New Year Honours 2014.

Julia Sibley, chief executive of the Savoy Educational Trust, along with Chris Corbin and Jeremy King, who jointly run Rex Restaurants, were among those to be honoured with an MBE and OBEs respectively.

Speaking to the local press, Sibley, who is also a trustee for the D'Oyly Carte Charitable Trust and Springboard told the Hertfordshire Mercury: "I was amazed and very humbled by it. I'm very grateful and hugely honoured.

"I enjoy the giving part and especially helping the young and the disadvantaged and those who haven't had such a privileged start in life and trying to enable people to go and have a good career in hospitality, set them on the right path and give them skills they can use in whatever shape or form in later life.

"It's a team effort. It's not just me and I'm very privileged to be chosen."

Those members of the hospitality sector featuring in the New Year Honours 2014 were:

Christopher Corbin, restaurateur, for services to the hospitality industry and voluntary services through Leuka.

Jeremy King, restaurateur, for services to the hospitality industry and voluntary service to the arts.

Lady Clare MacDonald, for services to the hospitality industry and to charity in Scotland particularly through Marie Curie Cancer Care.

MBE

Nicholas Simon Munting, sous chef, House of Commons, for services to Parliament and to young people in Croydon.

Julia Sibley, chief executive, Savoy Educational Trust, for services to the Hospitality Industry.

Pauline Dale, programme area manager in hospitality, Coleg Llandrillo. For services to further education in Wales.

Mary Patricia O'Kane, proprietor, Beech Hill Country House hotel, Londonderry. For services to tourism and hospitality in Northern Ireland.

Helen Tse, director, Sweet Mandarin restaurant, Manchester. For services to the food and drink sector.

Lisa Tse, chief executive officer and head chef, Sweet Mandarin restaurant, Manchester. For services to the food and drink sector.

British Empire Medal

Anita Jayne Browning, chef, Government House, Stanley, Falkland Islands. For services to the Falkland Islands.
