Balmoral hotel wins Flavour of Scotland award
Scotland's Balmoral hotel has won the Flavour of Scotland award at last week's Scottish Thistle Awards.
The award, sponsored by Caterer Group, recognises those businesses using best practice in the use and presentation of Scottish produce.
Other hospitality winners at the annual tourism awards run by the Scottish Executive included Ramada Jarvis and St Andrews Bay golf resort.
Ramada won the skills for success: large company category for its leadership development programme launched by general manager Calum Ross at the company's Edinburgh hotel in October 2004.
Since its start the programme has helped cut staff turnover in half and reduce negative comments from customers by 15%.
St Andrews Bay golf resort and spa in Fife triumphed in the business tourism category in recognition of its success in boosting its conference business in the off-peak January to March period.
The event was held at the Edinburgh International Convention Centre.
