Beaverbrook appoints Andrew Spearman as hotel manager

Andrew Spearman has been appointed hotel manager of Beaverbrook, the new £90m luxury country house hotel and exclusive golf club in Leatherhead, Surrey.

He has joined the hotel from Domaine de Manville in Provence, south of France, where he was general manager for two and half years.

After studying hotel management at Farnborough College of Technology, Spearman worked at Holiday Inn in the UK before spending the majority of his career overseas apart from a two year stint as general manager of the Malmaison in Edinburgh from 2000 to 2002.

He worked in Seychelles, Nigeria, Mauritius, Singapore, Indonesia and Hong Kong before moving to his most recent position in France in September 2014.

Set within a 400 acre estate, Beaverbrook is the former home of media magnate and politician Lord Beaverbrook. It was acquired in 2011 by Longshot, headed by Joel Cadbury and Ollie Vigors, with the intention of creating a world class, luxury hotel.

The hotel is made up of a Grade II-listed mansion with 18 bedrooms, a bar, restaurant and screening room, which is set to open at the end of July. The mansion will join the estate's already open 11-bedroom Garden House with restaurant and cookery school, as well as the club house for the Tom Watson-designed 18-hole golf course.

A spa, with indoor and outdoor swimming pools and six treatment rooms, and a further six suites in the grounds will open later in the year.

In April it was announced that Justin Pinchbeck, chief operating officer of Beaverbrook, is to leave the property once he has overseen the opening in the summer. He will continue to act as a consultant to the business following his departure.
